Lance Mekeel is an Adjunct Professor at Bowling Green State University and at Ohio Northern University, teaching courses in performance studies and public speaking. Lance earned his PhD in Theatre from Bowling Green State University in 2013. Lance's dissertation focused on the process by which French avant-gardist Alfred Jarry's play Ubu Roi (1896) went from shocking and offending legitimate institutions to being studied, celebrated, and performed by those same establishments. Other research interests include 20th-century acting pedagogies, effigies in contemporary sport culture, ancient Roman theatre, identity negotiations in contemporary society, among other things. Lance also works with Ottawa Hills Local School District, directing plays, coaching acting, and teaching drama and acting workshops.
Lance is currently accepting acting students both at BGSU and at students' homes.
