Kevin Inouye is an Assistant Professor of Acting, Movement, & Stage Combat at the University of Wyoming. He is also a Certified Teacher, Theatrical Firearms Instructor, and the Rocky Mountain Regional Representative with the Society of American Fight Directors, and a proud SAG-AFTRA actor and stunt performer. He holds Affiliate member status with the Stage Directors & Choreographers Society (SDC), and is a member of the Association of Theatre Movement Educators (ATME) and the International Order of the Sword & Pen.
Kevin holds an MFA in Theatre Pedagogy from Virginia Commonwealth University, graduate certificate in Sustainable Change from Antioch University Seattle, and a BA in Psychology from Earlham College, with additional LeCoq movement training with Dody DiSanto through the Center for Movement Theatre in Washington DC. This coast-to-coast eclecticism is also reflected in his work, which has included live theatre and film/video acting and stunt work, award-winning fight choreography, movement consultation, gun wrangling, direction, and more. He has previously taught at Virginia Commonwealth University, Christopher Newport University, and the College of William & Mary, as well as through schools, theatres, conventions, festivals, and stage combat workshops across North America. He also coordinates the annual UWYO Stage Combat Workshop every Spring in Laramie, WY, and runs a small business on the side providing prop weapons rentals, fight direction, and other services (www.fightdesigner.com).
He is the author of The Theatrical Firearms Handbook (Routledge, 2014) and several articles in The Fight Master, the Journal of the Society of American Fight Directors. He is currently working on a Physical Dramaturgy book that has been a shared project with fellow ATME members for several years now, and has been accepted for publication by Routledge Press.
