T. FULTON BURNS (SDC) is a professional performer, director and fight choreographer, and a member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. He has worked as an assistant director with Moises Kaufman, collaborated & performed with the Living Theatre, danced with Charleston Ballet Theater & Greenville Ballet, and has worked with Cirque du Soleil’s production of Quidam.
Fulton attended Winthrop University where he earned his BA in Theatre Performance and completed his graduate work at Western Illinois University specializing in Directing for the Stage (MFA). He has taught in higher education for over a decade with schools like University of North Carolina School of the Arts, University of Nevada Las Vegas, University of South Alabama, The University of Montana, and Illinois College. Burns is also professionally accredited as a Certified Teacher with the Expressive Actor Technique, Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors, Registered Yoga Teacher (200 Hour RYT) with YogaFit & Yoga Alliance, an Associate Instructor with Dueling Arts International, and a Certified Teacher with the National Michael Chekhov Association.
Fulton began his theatre career as a dancer in the Southeast in both ballet and modern dance with companies like Charleston Ballet Theater and Greenville Ballet to name a few. Since this time he has furthered his movement training to include physical comedy, mask work, and he is recognized as a Level 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 YogaFit Instructor, along with being a Certified Teacher with the Expressive Actor technique. Burns is also a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) and an award winning Advanced Actor Combatant. He is also an Associate Instructor with the Dueling Arts International (DAI) making him one of only 8 professors in the United States to offer skills tests with both organizations (SAFD & DAI). Fulton has recently been awarded and expanded his Teaching Certifications with the National Michael Chekhov Association.
Fulton’s fight director work has included choreographed fights for Extremeties, Othello, The Beaux Stratagem, Romeo and Juliet (KCACTF Certificate of Merit for Fight Direction with NWMCC), The Illusion, Man of La Mancha, Hamlet, and Children of Eden (KCACTF Certificate of Merit for Fight Direction with USA) among others.
